As a Software Engineer in our Search team, you will take part in building and scaling cutting edge search technologies for all our channels. If you have experience in building back-end solutions, understand how engineering choices are influenced by business needs, and are excited by leveraging big data and machine learning to deliver impactful solutions, this role is for you.

Your responsibilities

• Developing improvements to our search engine, both by improving and adding to our existing algorithms, but also by integrating machine learning models, primarily using Java
• Developing our supporting data pipelines, improving the efficiency of how we consume data from REST APIs, event topics and Big Query data sets, and increasing the richness of the data we can use to deliver exceptional search results
• Playing an active role in advancing our search capabilities from an omni channel perspective, learning about the retail search landscape and translating business opportunities into software capabilities
• Collaborating and communicating effectively within the team and with our API consumers, being empowered to take initiative and solve issues yourself as well as co-create with others
• Ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of our services, by mitigating issues as they appear but also, more importantly, by designing them that way from the start

REQUIREMENTS

• The Software Engineer we are looking for ideally has:
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Proficiency in Java or a similar programming language
• Experience in automation and Infrastructure as Code
• At least 3 years of experience in delivering back-end solutions

About this work area

In the Search team, we are today four engineers working together in a Kanban style. All of us are part of designing, building, and supporting the solution. Data analysis and A/B-testing is a large part of how we guide our work. We are quite autonomous, self-organizing and self-sufficient in many ways, which means part of our daily work is to define how we get things done together.

The role is based in Malmö, Sweden and you will report to the Engineering Manager of the Search team.

In this recruitment there is no relocation support provided by IKEA, hence we're looking for people already living in the mentioned location.
